COMPANY OVERVIEW

Konami Gaming Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Konami Corporation, established in 1969 in Osaka, Japan. Known for its state-of-the-art video slot titles played in casinos throughout the United States such as Solstice Gold, Egyptian King, Relic Hunter, Jackpot Safari, Konami is also the developer of the Fusion progressive series of slots, which are played up and down the Las Vegas strip.

Konami Gaming has made a massive investment in the North American gaming industry through its new nine-acre facility at Hughes Airport Center of Las Vegas. In this new 115,000 square foot facility, our focus is on creating North America's leading casino games and management systems.

A Brief History of Konami:

1969

March 21

Kagemasa Kozuki (current Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer) founded a jukebox rental and repair business at 148 Kozushima, Toyonaka, Osaka.

1973

March 19

KONAMI INDUSTRY CO., LTD.(KONAMI) was established at 3-124-1 Meishinguchi, Toyonaka, Osaka with capital of 1 million yen.
KONAMI began to manufacture amusement machines for arcades.

1978

January

KONAMI created and began to market video games using microcomputers.

1979

January

KONAMI exported products to the US for the first time (marked the first step towards expansion into the US).

1980

May

Headquarters was transferred to the newly constructed office building at 2-11-1 Shonai-Sakaemachi, Toyonaka, Osaka.

1981

March

The KONAMI logo was established.

1982

March

KONAMI entered the toy game business.

   

KONAMI received an investment from Osaka Small and Medium Business Investment & Consultation Co., Ltd. and increased its capital to 120 million yen.

   

Headquarters was transferred to Osaka Ekimae Daiyon Building at 1-11-4 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka.

 

June

President Kagemasa Kozuki contributed his own Konami shares to establish the Kozuki Foundation for Higher Education (approved by Hyogo Prefecture) to which he was inaugurated as the Executive Director (began social contribution activities).

 

October

KONAMI entered the PC game business.

 

November

Konami of America, Inc. (currently Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.) was established in the US.

1983

December

KONAMI entered the MSX game business.

1984

March

Construction was completed on the new building for the Technology Development Center in Toyonaka, Osaka.

 

May

Konami Ltd. (currently Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.) was established in the UK.

 

October

KONAMI was listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange (specially designated stocks in the second section) and increased capital to 2.94 billion yen.

 

December

Konami GmbH (currently Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH) was established in Germany.

1985

April

KONAMI entered the Nintendo ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM (called "FAMILY COMPUTER" in Japan) game business.

1986

August

CI was introduced on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of its founding. KONAMI’s logo went through a transformation.

   

Headquarters was transferred to the newly constructed Konami Software Development Building (currently Kobe Building) at 7-3-2 Minatojima-Nakamachi, Chuo-ku, Kobe, Hyogo.

 

October

Construction was completed on the new building for the production control department and distribution center in Toyonaka, Osaka.

1987

December

Konami Kosan Co., Ltd. (currently Konami Real Estate, Inc.) was established.

1988

February

KONAMI was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

 

August

KONAMI was listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange.

1991

May

Construction was completed on the Konami Technology Development Center (currently Kobe Office) in Nishi-ku, Kobe, Hyogo.

 

June

KONAMI INDUSTRY CO., LTD. changed its trade name to KONAMI CO., LTD.

 

November

KONAMI entered the PC Engine game business.

1992

June

The Tokyo Headquarters was set up at 4-3-1 Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo.

 

December

KONAMI entered the MEGADRIVE (called "GENESIS" in North America) game business.

1994

August

Construction was completed on the Tokyo Technical Center (currently Zama Office) in Zama, Kanagawa.

 

September

Konami (Hong Kong) Limited (currently Konami Digital Entertainment Limited) was established in Hong Kong.

 

December

KONAMI entered the PlayStation game business.

1995

January

The Kobe Building in Minatojima, Chuo-ku, Kobe received some damage due to the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.

 

April

Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka Co., Ltd. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was established.

   

Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo Co., Ltd. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was established.

 

October

Konami Computer Entertainment Roppongi Co., Ltd. (currently Konami Career Management, Inc.) was established.

 

December

Konami Music Entertainment Co., Ltd. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was established.

1996

April

Konami Computer Entertainment Japan Co., Ltd. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was established.

 

May

KONAMI shifted to an organization based on business divisions.

 

November

US holding company, Konami Corporation of America was established in the US.

   

Konami Australia Pty Ltd was established in Australia.

1997

January

Konami Gaming, Inc. was established in the US.

 

March

Konami Computer Entertainment School Co., Ltd. (currently Konami School, Inc.) was established.

   

Construction was completed on the Amusement Machine Division Plant (currently merged with Kobe Office) in Kobe, Hyogo.

 

April

Control of domestic sales was transferred to 12 regional KONAMI distributing agents.

 

October

KONAMI obtained licenses from the Australian states of New South Wales and South Australia to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

November

KONAMI was listed on the Singapore Exchange.

   

European holding company, Konami Europe B.V. (currently Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.) was established in the Netherlands.

1998

February

KONAMI obtained a license from Northern Territory, Australia to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

March

KONAMI obtained licenses from Victoria, Australia and the Australian Capital Territory to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

June

KONAMI obtained a license from Queensland, Australia to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

October

KONAMI’s logo was changed from italics to plain text.

 

December

KONAMI obtained a license from West Australia, Australia to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

1999

February

KONAMI entered the card game business and released the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME.

 

April

KONAMI obtained a license from Tasmania, Australia to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

June

Konami Parlor Entertainment Co., Ltd. (currently KPE, Inc.) began to create, manufacture and market LCD games for pachinko manufacturers.

 

September

Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka Co., Ltd. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was listed on JASDAQ.

   

KONAMI was listed on the London Stock Exchange.

 

December

KONAMI obtained a license from Gauteng, South Africa to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

The registered office of KONAMI was transferred to "4-3-1 Toranomon, Minato-ku, Tokyo" from "Kobe, Hyogo".

2000

January

KONAMI obtained a license from Mpumalanga, South Africa to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Nevada, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines. KONAMI became the first Japanese company to enter the world’s largest gaming machines market of the US.

 

March

The Kozuki Foundation for Higher Education established the Kozuki Foundation for Advanced Information Technology (approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) to which Kagemasa Kozuki was inaugurated as Executive Director (the social contribution activities were expanded on a nationwide scale).

 

June

KONAMI entered the Health & Fitness business and released “Dance Dance Revolution 3rd Mix” with innovative 'workout' mode developed in collaboration with PEOPLE CO., LTD.

   

Konami Software Shanghai, Inc. was established in China.

 

July

The corporate name was changed from KONAMI CO., LTD. to KONAMI CORPORATION.

   

KONAMI invested in TAKARA CO., LTD. and makes it an affiliated company.

 

August

Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was listed on JASDAQ.

 

October

Konami Marketing, Inc. (merged with KONAMI in October 2005) was established and took control of the sales department of KONAMI.

   

KONAMI obtained licenses from the US states of Mississippi and California to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

November

KONAMI announced a new type of financial product called “Game Fund Tokimeki Memorial”.

   

Konami Parlor Entertainment, Inc. (currently KPE, Inc.) passed a type test for its fourth pachinko slot machine issued by Security Electronics and Communications Technology Association.

2001

January

KONAMI obtained a license from New Mexico, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

February

PEOPLE CO., LTD. became a subsidiary through a friendly TOB (take over bid) (currently Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd.)

 

March

The Zama Office of Konami Parlor Entertainment, Inc. (currently KPE, Inc.) was registered as a manufacturer of pachinko slot machines with The Japan Crime Prevention Association.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Michigan, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

NAPS CORPORATION became a wholly owned subsidiary ( Konami Sports & Life Co., Ltd., and merged with Konami Sports Corporation in February 2006).

 

May

KONAMI obtained a license from Indiana, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

June

PEOPLE CO., LTD. changed its trade name to Konami Sports Corporation.

   

Konami (Hong Kong) Limited changed its trade name to Konami Marketing (Asia) Limited.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Iowa, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

Konami Sports Corporation acquired entire stake in NISSAN SPORTS PLAZA, CO., LTD. and made it a subsidiary (merged with Konami Sports Corporation in January 2003).

 

August

Konami Gaming, Inc. acquired entire stake in Paradigm Gaming Systems, Inc. and made it a subsidiary that was subsequently absorbed into Konami Gaming, Inc.

   

KONAMI invested in HUDSON SOFT CO., LTD. and made it an affiliated company.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Ontario, Canada to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

KONAMI donated the Konami Multimedia Hall to Osaka Electro-Communication University (Neyagawa, Osaka).

   

KONAMI obtained a license from New York, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

October

Konami Mobile Online, Inc. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was established.

   

11 Konami distributing agents nationwide were merged together and absorbed into Konami Marketing, Inc.

2002

January

KONAMI obtained a license from Arizona, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

KONAMI invested in Genki Co., Ltd. and made it an affiliated company.

 

February

Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, Inc. (merged with KONAMI in April 2005) was listed on JASDAQ.

   

KONAMI entered the Xbox game business.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Illinois, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

Konami Sports Corporation transformed Daiei Olympic Sports Club, Inc. into a subsidiary through a share purchase (merged with Konami Sports Corporation in October 2002).

KONAMI launched e-AMUSEMENT (online service for arcade machines).

 

April

The names of Konami sports facilities were changed to Konami Sports Club.

 

May

The operation of amusement facilities was transferred to AmLead Co., Ltd.

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Kansas, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

June

KONAMI obtained licenses from Minnesota, USA, and US territory, Puerto Rico to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

August

KONAMI obtained a license from Louisiana, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

Headquarters was transferred to 2-4-1 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.

 

September

KONAMI obtained a license from West Virginia, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

   

KONAMI was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

KONAMI obtained a license from Wisconsin, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

November

Konami Parlor Entertainment, Inc. changed its trade name to KPE, Inc.

2003

March

Konami Sports Corporation acquired entire stake in NISSAY ATHLETICS COMPANY and made it a subsidiary (merged with Konami Sports Corporation in May 2003).

   

Kozuki Foundation for Education established Kozuki Foundation for Sports and Athletes (approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) to which Kagemasa Kozuki was inaugurated as Executive Director (supported athletes and expanded social contribution activities focused on the promotion of sports).

 

April

KONAMI introduced a new logo on the occasion of the 30th anniversary since the establishment of the company.

   

The newly developed EZ training machine series was installed at Konami Sports Clubs nationwide.

   

KONAMI acquired stake in Traumer, Inc. and made it a subsidiary (merged with KONAMI in June, 2005).

   

KONAMI obtained a license from Quebec, Canada to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

October

KONAMI was added to the Nikkei Stock Average (Nikkei 225).

   

Konami of America, Inc. changed its trade name to Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

2004

March

2005

January

KONAMI obtained licenses from South Dakota, USA and Alberta, Canada to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

March

Kozuki Foundation for Education, Kozuki Foundation for Advanced Information Technology and Kozuki Foundation for Sports were merged under Kozuki Foundation for Sports and Education (approved by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology).

   

KONAMI dissolved its capital tie-up with Genki Co., Ltd.

 

April

Konami Computer Entertainment Studios, Inc., Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, Inc., Konami Computer Entertainment Japan, Inc., Konami Online, Inc., and Konami Media Entertainment, Inc. were merged together and absorbed into KONAMI.

   

KONAMI dissolved capital ties with and sold all shares in TAKARA CO., LTD.

   

KONAMI accepted new third-party shares issued by HUDSON SOFT CO., LTD. and made it a consolidated subsidiary.

 

May

KONAMI obtained a license from Oklahoma, USA to manufacture and sell gaming machines.

 

June

Construction was completed on the new offices and production facility for casino machines in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

 

July

Konami Sports Club received authorization by the Japanese Olympic Committee to become Japan’s first “JOC Athlete Support Center”.

 

October

Konami Marketing Japan, Inc. divided its distribution and customer service departments and established Konami Logistics and Service, Inc.

   

Konami Marketing Japan, Inc. was merged with and absorbed into KONAMI.

   

Konami Marketing, Inc. was merged with and absorbed into Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.

   

KONAMI was selected as the supplier of casino management systems in Quebec, Canada and concluded a sales agreement.

2006

Februay

Internet Revolution, Inc. was established as a joint venture company with Internet Initiative Japan Inc.

   

Konami Sports Life Corporation was merged with and absorbed into Konami Sports Corporation.

 

March

Konami Sports Corporation became a wholly owned subsidiary through a share exchange.

   

Konami Marketing (Asia) Limited changed its trade name to Konami Digital Entertainment Limited.

   

KONAMI acquired capital in Resort Solution Co., Ltd. (equity method affiliate) and business alliance.

   

Konami of Europe GmbH changed its trade name to Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH.

   

Konami Corporation of Europe B.V. changed its trade name to Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.

   

Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. was newly established to take over KONAMI’s digital entertainment business and KONAMI shifted to a pure holding company.
